Admiral Nelson’s Rum Debuts New Bottle, Label
BARDSTOWN, KY – Admiral Nelson’s Spiced Rum will debut an upgrade of the brand’s packaging in early Spring 2013. The change better communicates the product’s core equities with a premium look and bottle.
The new, proprietary Admiral Nelson’s bottle features a traditional bulbed neck design atop a tapered body resulting in a more modern, premium look. In addition, it features blown in stars around the shoulder reminiscent of a compass rose. The new front label features an enhanced version of stylized legendary naval officer Admiral Nelson and jagged edge reflective of the brand’s distinct personality. The product type is now presented in a bold, clean style that distinguishes it well on the shelf. Finally, to create better recognition at the shelf, the “Admiral Nelson’s” logo is now stacked for increased brand recognition. The label and bottle changes will be featured across the entire franchise.
“The original package has led the brand to great success,” said Hannah Venhoff, Brand Manager for Admiral Nelson’s Rum. “The time, however, is right to leverage that success with a new, more premium package. We believe the look is a great representation of the growing brand’s position as the #2-selling Spiced Rum.”
Acquired by Heaven Hill Distilleries in 2011, Admiral Nelson’s Rum continues to be one of the best-selling spiced rums in the category. The brand is the number-five-selling overall rum in the United States and the second-largest brand in the spiced rum segment. Since 2007, it has been a consistent winner of growth awards from leading trade publications, including Market Watch and, most recently, Beverage Information Group with an Established Growth Brand Award for 2012.
The Admiral Nelson family of rums is comprised of the flagship Admiral Nelson Spiced, 101 Proof Spiced, Cherry Spiced, Coconut, Vanilla, Dark, Silver and Gold varieties. The franchise is available in 1.75L, 1L, 750ml, 750ml Carry Pack, 375ml, 200ml and 50ml sizes and bottled between 35-50.5 percent alcohol by volume (70-101 proof).
