Burnett’s Vodka Introduces Cucumber Lime Flavor

Burnett’s Flavored Vodka is introducing Cucumber Lime, an exciting addition to its already diverse family of flavors. The new flavor will be available nationally in April.

The fresh cucumber taste with a squeeze of lime is right on target with growing consumer taste trends. Traditional fruit and refreshing, crisp flavors continue to lead the way in the Flavored Vodka category in which Burnett’s has proven to be a leader over the last 10 years. Burnett’s Flavored Vodkas are quadruple distilled, triple charcoal filtered and made with natural flavor, placing them among the purest Vodkas on the market.

“Cucumber Lime is a flavor that truly embodies what people love about Burnett’s Flavored Vodkas – it’s fresh, fun and flavorful,” said Reid Hafer, Senior Brand Manager. “Our consumers have come to expect new flavors like Cucumber Lime that mix easily with their favorite mixers. Cool and light with a hint of lime, Cucumber Lime is sure to please the palate.”

Cucumber Lime brings Burnett’s portfolio to a total of 37 flavors, which includes: Apple Berry, Blue Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Cherry, Cherry Cola, Cherry Limeade, Citrus, Coconut, Cranberry, Fruit Punch, Grape, Hot Cinnamon, Lime, Limeade, Mango, Mango Pineapple, Orange, Orange Cream, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Pink Lemonade, Pomegranate, Raspberry, Red Berry, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Sour Apple, Strawberry, Strawberry Banana, Sugar Cookie, Sweet Tea, Tropical Fruit, Vanilla, Watermelon and Whipped Cream.

The product is available for a suggested retail price of $10.99 for the 750ml and is bottled at 35% alcohol by volume (70 proof).

Cucumber Lime will be available in four sizes: 50ml, 750ml, 1.0L and 1.75L. “New Flavor” hang tags will hang from the bottles of 750ml and 1.75L sizes for the first few months of shipping. The launch of the new flavor is supported by floor displays, a range of point of sale items, shelf facings, as well as sales education materials. The Burnett’s website (www.burnettsvodka.com) and the Burnett’s ‘More Recipes, More Fun’ Mobile App (available on Apple and Android devices) provide information and drink recipes for all flavors.

Burnett’s Vodka is one of the top-selling vodkas in the nation and the 12th largest selling distilled spirits brand in the US. Since 2000, Burnett’s Vodka has consistently won Beverage Information Group’s “Growth Brand” and Impact’s “Hot Brand” awards as one of the fastest growing products in the industry. In 2015, Burnett’s Vodka was named to Beverage Information Group’s inaugural “Growth Brands Hall of Fame.” The entire line includes the 80 proof Vodka, an array of Flavored Vodkas, Gin, Rums, and 100 proof varieties.

Elijah Craig Small Batch Age Change

The surge in popularity of Bourbon both domestically and internationally has led many of the Bourbon and American Whiskey brands at Heaven Hill Distillery to experience sustained double digit growth. One brand in particular that has grown in popularity during this resurgence is Elijah Craig Small Batch.

Since its launch in 1986, Elijah Craig Small Batch has become known in Bourbon circles as a brand with a high quality to value ratio. This was in part due to the fact that it carried a 12-year-old age statement. However, as the brand continues to grow significantly, Heaven Hill’s stocks of 12-year-old barrels has been under increasing pressure. Therefore, after careful deliberation and with a view towards making the brand available to more, not fewer consumers, Heaven Hill has made the decision to bottle Elijah Craig in small batches using Bourbon that has been aged between 8 to 12 years.

Starting this week, Heaven Hill will begin shipping Elijah Craig Small Batch as an 8 to 12-year-old Bourbon and will remove the 12-year-old age statement from the back label. This will allow us to continue to make Elijah Craig Small Batch available and not have to limit its accessibility to consumers or have outages at the shelf.

Overall, Heaven Hill does intend to retain age-stated Bourbons within the Elijah Craig brand franchise. By making the age adjustment to Elijah Craig Small Batch, it will allow a marked increase in allocations of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof which will continue to carry a 12-year-old age statement and, over time, increase availability of Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel that was just re-released this past fall after a 3 year hiatus.

With the second-largest inventory of Bourbon in the world and knowing that each barrel, no matter the age, matures at different rates depending on its location, Heaven Hill is confident that through our stringent barrel selection process, we will be able to maintain the desired taste profile and quality that has made Elijah Craig Small Batch one of the most critically acclaimed Bourbons in the world. More importantly, we are dedicated to being transparent in this change and providing consumers with as much information as reasonably possible.

Over 600 original cocktail recipes using Domaine de Canton French Ginger Liqueur, Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon, PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur, and Rittenhouse Rye Whisky were submitted online nationwide beginning August 1, 2015. Preliminary entries required two original cocktail recipes, one classic and one innovative, along with a short description of what hospitality means to the contestant.

“Bartenders bring further innovation and creativity to our products that exemplify the diverse products Heaven Hill has to offer,” said Kate S. Latts, Vice President, Marketing for Heaven Hill Brands. “Our leading portfolio of spirits is filled with pioneer brands that continue to push the boundary, which mirror what we hope to identify in the Bartender of the Year. Heaven Hill Brands Celebrates 80th Anniversary of First Bourbon Barrel with Special Production Run

Special one day run of barrels all to be entered at Heaven Hill’s original 1935 entry proof of 107°

For Immediate Release

BARDSTOWN, KY—In 1935, Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for Heaven Hill. It was on that date 80 years ago that the fledgling distillery filled its first barrel of fine Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, marking the beginning of a business that has grown to become the largest family owned and operated distilled spirits producer, and the second largest holders of aging Bourbon, in the nation.

To mark the anniversary of the occasion, Heaven Hill Brands is producing a special run of Bourbon on Saturday, December 12, including filling all barrels that day at the company’s original 1935 barrel entry proof of 107°. Heaven Hill, like most of the larger distillers, has entered their new make whiskey at 125° for decades. In addition, a portion of the day’s production, approximately 280 barrels, will be entered into special heavy char barrels, while the balance will go into barrels at Heaven Hill’s traditional #3 char level.

A number of these barrels will receive special commemorative barrel heads, and will be put up to age on the first floor of Rickhouse Y where visitors to Heaven Hill’s Bourbon Heritage Center in Bardstown will be able to view them. The remainder of the barrels will be split between three of Heaven Hill’s oldest Rickhouses E, F and G – all located on the Heaven Hill campus and constructed in 1947 and 1948. The barrels will be bottled in the future when the master distiller determines that they are at their peak of maturity.

80 years ago, when the first barrel was filled, Heaven Hill had a capacity of 500 bushels a day and the company had just a handful of employees. Today, the company mashes 12,150 bushels a day at their state-of-the- art Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, which will be soon undergoing its third expansion since Heaven Hill acquired the facility in 1999. Heaven Hill now employs almost 700 people throughout the country.

“We thought there could be no better way to recognize and commemorate the filling of our first barrel in 1935 than to replicate it as faithfully as possible,” noted Heaven Hill President Max L. Shapira. “We still use the same 7-generations old yeast strain, the same basic mash bill or grain recipe, and the same traditional process as we used when our first barrel was filled prior to World War II. Filling these barrels at our original entry proof makes them a unique memento of our 80th anniversary.”

Founded in 1935, Bardstown, Ky.-based Heaven Hill Brands is the nation’s largest independent, family-owned and operated spirits producer and marketer and the world’s second-largest holder of Kentucky Bourbon. Heaven Hill’s diversified portfolio of brands includes Evan Williams Bourbon; Larceny, Elijah Craig and Henry McKenna Bourbons; Burnett’s Vodkas and Gin; Admiral Nelson’s and Blackheart Rums; HPNOTIQ Liqueur; The Christian Brothers Brandies; PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur; Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur; Lunazul Tequila; Cinerator Hot Cinnamon Flavored Whiskey and Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey. Lunazul Tequila Adds Limited Edition Double Barrel Reposado to 100% Agave Lineup

FOR RELEASE: For Immediate Release

Lunazul Tequila Adds Limited Edition Double Barrel Reposado to 100% Agave Lineup

BARDSTOWN, Ky. – Lunazul 100% Agave Tequilas introduces the limited edition Lunazul Double Barrel Reposado. Available through the end of the year, Lunazul Double Barrel Reposado, is a unique blend of handcrafted 100% Agave Tequilas blended under the masterful direction of Heaven Hill Tequila partner Tierra de Agaves. Aged first in American white oak barrels, it is finished in 11-year-old wheated Bourbon barrels hand-selected from Heaven Hill. After the second aging, the Reposado is married with select Extra-Anejo, creating a smooth and sophisticated Tequila.

At the 2015 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, the Lunazul Double Barrel Reposado was among the highest scoring Tequilas in the entire competition as a finalist in the Reposado category earning a 94 score and the “Excellent, Highly Recommended” accolade. The Tequila was recognized for its “Unique aromas” and “Opulence” by the Ultimate Spirits Challenge.

“The Lunazul Double Barrel Reposado is a reflection of the company’s commitment to artisanal production,” said Francisco Quijano, Master Distiller for Tierra de Agaves. “We maintain that commitment and quality with each of our expressions. However, we also wish to find new expressions which challenge and excite Tequila connoisseurs.”

Tierra de Agaves’ 3,500 acres of Agave is among the largest independent sources in Mexico. The lowland agave from the Central valley of Tequila contributes an earthier and more toasted Tequila flavor. The Heaven Hill barrels then follow the flavor with hints of vanilla that complement the typical barrel notes of Reposado Tequila.

Lunazul will continue to offer limited editions of the product on a regular basis. Each will be unique and grounded in the culture and craftsmanship that make Tequila one of the true heritage products in spirits.

The estate grown, distilled and bottled Lunazul is among the finest 100% Agave Tequilas in the category. At the 2015 Ultimate Beverage Challenge, three of the four regular Lunazul varieties (Blanco, Reposado and Añejo) earned the prestigious “Finalist” designation in their respective age groups (all earning 92 points or higher).

Lunazul 100% Agave Tequila has been one of the leading new Tequila brands in the 100% Agave sub-category. It is both a Beverage Information Group “Rising Star” and Impact “Hot Prospect” for volume growth since 2013.

Lunazul Double Barrel Reposado Tequila ($39.99) will be available for a limited time beginning in October. Lunazul Tequilas (SRP $19.99-29.99) are available in five varieties, Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Primero and the limited edition Double Barrel Reposado. Heaven Hill Brings Back Critically Acclaimed Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel Bourbon After Three Year Hiatus

For Immediate Release

Famed Distiller Also Continues Releasing Elijah Craig 23-Year-Old Single Barrel

BARDSTOWN, KY—To the delight of scores of Bourbon fans who have lamented its absence, Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel Bourbon is back. Heaven Hill Brands, the nation’s largest independent family owned and operated distilled spirits supplier, is once again offering the highly sought after and critically acclaimed American Whiskey after a three year hiatus due to inventory shortages. A past winner of the “Best Bourbon” award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel was first introduced by Heaven Hill in 1994, and quickly gained legendary status at a time when super-premium Bourbon offerings were few and far between. As demand for the rare whiskey grew, along with growing demand for Heaven Hill’s other super-premium Bourbons, there were simply not enough 18-year-old barrels that met the Master Distiller’s strict quality standards, so the bottling was discontinued in 2012. Since then, stocks have come back into line, allowing Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel to again be offered on a limited national basis at a suggested retail price of $120 for the 750ml bottle. Heaven Hill also announced it is re-releasing a limited number of barrels of Elijah Craig 23-Year-Old Single Barrel, which has been bottled, also in limited quantities, since 2013 and carries a suggested retail price of $199.

Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel quickly gained a cult following upon its release as the oldest single barrel Bourbon on the market, and one that garnered multiple medals and awards throughout the nation and the world. It captured Double Gold/Best Bourbon at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and was named one of the top 50 spirits by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Arguably a victim of its own success, the brand was furloughed just as the high-end Bourbon market exploded, and since then connoisseurs have consistently inquired about when it might return.

Heaven Hill will release only about 15,000 750ml bottles of Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel this fall, packed in a three bottle case, and it will be available in most major metro markets nationwide on an allocated basis. The face label has been slightly altered since its last appearance in 2012, with the logotype now echoing the same Elijah Craig typographic treatment as the Elijah Craig Small Batch, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and the Elijah Craig 23-Year-Old Single Barrel. The new Elijah Craig 18-Year-Old Single Barrel now presents a consistent family look with the 23-Year-Old Single Barrel, with the former using a blue and copper colored face label and the latter a green and copper color palette.

The selection process for the Elijah Craig Single Barrel is one of the most stringent at Heaven Hill. From an aging inventory of 1.1 million barrels, the second largest American Whiskey holdings in the world, Master Distillers Craig Beam and Denny Potter select only barrels that have rested at low storage, and then further choose only those that meet their strict nosing and taste criteria. While taste nuances will vary slightly from one barrel to the other, as they should in a single barrel offering, in general they have selected for complex, multi-layered taste profiles that balance the 18 years in new charred oak with sweet and spicy grain notes. As befits a Bourbon that has seen 72 variable Kentucky seasons, the finish is long and warm.

The Elijah Craig 23-Year-Old Single Barrel is even more limited in quantity than the 18-Year-Old. The additional five years of maturation gives the 23-Year-Old a honeyed, dry oakiness, while still retaining the spicy and long finish.

“We at Heaven Hill have been offering aged Bourbons and single barrel bottlings as old as 18, 23, or even 27 years, for longer than anyone else,” noted Susan Wahl, Senior Brand Manager for Whiskeys at Heaven Hill Brands. “Our experience in this arena, along with our renowned quality standards and inventory of over one million aging barrels, means we can select and bottle extra-aged Bourbons that are unlike any others in the world, and provide a unique tasting experience for the true aficionado. This is really showcased in the Elijah Craig 18 and 23-Year-Old Single Barrel bottlings.”

Founded in 1935, Bardstown, KY-based Heaven Hill Brands (www.heavenhill.com) is the nation’s largest independent, family-owned and operated spirits producer and marketer and the world’s second-largest holder of Kentucky Bourbon. Heaven Hill Offers Ultra Rare John E. Fitzgerald Very Special Reserve Bourbon Release

20 Year Old Barrels Distilled at Stitzel-Weller Provide Unprecedented Glimpse at DNA of Old Fitzgerald, Larceny

BARDSTOWN, KY—Heaven Hill Brands, the nation’s largest independent family owned and operated distilled spirits supplier, announces the one-time release of a Bourbon that will thrill both whiskey aficionados and history buffs—John E. Fitzgerald Very Special Reserve.  Comprised of 12 barrels of wheated Bourbon produced at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, original home of Heaven Hill’s Old Fitzgerald and direct ancestor to the celebrated Larceny brand, the ultra-rare, highly allocated release will offer both an extraordinary sensory experience and a glimpse at the DNA of Bourbon lore.

Heaven Hill acquired the Old Fitzgerald line of wheated Bourbons—the flagship brand that legendary whiskey man Pappy Van Winkle produced at his original Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively, KY—in 1999, seven years after these barrels were filled and put up in the Stitzel-Weller rickhouses.  After Heaven Hill acquired the Old Fitz line, these barrels were transferred to Warehouse Y at Heaven Hill’s Bardstown campus where they aged on the first floor, allowing long, slow and balanced maturation.  They were transferred into inert tanks in 2013 to arrest the aging process and preserve the incredible taste until they were bottled.

Recent interest in Bourbon history and rare bottlings has created awareness of and strong interest in whiskeys produced at Stitzel-Weller, as past bottlings distilled at have become highly sought after and very expensive in the secondary collector’s markets.  The release of John E. Fitzgerald Special Reserve, available only in a 375ml bottle to maximize the very limited supply for a retail price of $300, will resonate strongly with Bourbon history lovers and aficionados who understand the connection of this bottling to the original Old Fitzgerald family and to the Larceny brand that Heaven Hill launched to honor the legend of John E. Fitzgerald.

The legend goes that Treasury Agent John E. Fitzgerald was allowed free access to the bonded bourbon warehouses, and helped himself from only barrels containing the finest bourbon. The agent’s selections became known around the distillery as “Fitzgerald barrels” and were used to create a softly wheated bourbon known as “Old Fitzgerald.” The agent’s larcenous behavior was kept secret until the unveiling of the Larceny line, which revealed his story in full. John E. Fitzgerald Very Special Reserve honors both the superb taste of this lawless gauger and the legacy of the Old Fitzgerald line of distillers, who have exceeded the agent’s already high standards.

The packaging for John E. Fitzgerald Very Special Reserve is as stunning and special as the Bourbon inside.  The 375ml bottles resemble cut glass crystal and have the label information directly applied onto the glass, along with a gold and platinum key graphic, which hearkens back to the Larceny logo—a key—and commemorates Fitzgerald’s role as the treasury agent who held the keys to the warehouse.  The bottles have an ornate satin finish metal closure with a cork, and a strip stamp on the neck and the face label both prominently feature the 20 Year old age statement.  In addition, each bottle comes packed inside a handmade wooden box with die-cut keyholes and hinged doors that close with magnets.

The 12 original Stitzel-Weller barrels were dumped together and bottled at 90° proof or 45% alcohol by volume.  The barrels were not chill filtered, meaning the whiskey retains more of the natural esters and fatty acids than whiskey that has been chill filtered to remove these flavor compounds, providing a richer mouthfeel.  The John E. Fitzgerald Very Special Reserve offers rich cocoa and vanilla notes with a long, refined finish and the softness that a wheated mashbill provides.

“With the second largest inventory of Bourbon in the world, and one of the broadest ranges of styles, ages and proofs in the industry, it is rare for Heaven Hill to release barrels not produced by the company,” noted Susan Wahl, Senior Brand Manager for Whiskeys at Heaven Hill Distilleries. “Because these barrels represent the DNA of our Old Fitzgerald and Larceny, and because the original Stitzel-Weller distillery is so highly regarded by those in the know, we felt like the release of the John E. Fitzgerald Very Special Reserve would provide both context and credibility for the Old Fitz and Larceny bottlings.  These 3,000 bottles will not remain on the shelves for long, if at all.”

Heaven Hill Co-Master Distiller Denny Potter stated that “these 12 barrels represent a golden age in Bourbon history, but also tie the past into our current Larceny and Old Fitzgerald brands.  The Bourbon is the renowned wheated mashbill that Pappy Van Winkle developed for Old Fitz at Stitzel-Weller.  Its aging has been carefully managed to ensure it will be at its best, with two different aging regimens and locations so that it will not be over-aged or tannic.”

HPNOTIQ UNITES HIP-HOP ARTIST CAM’RON, ARTIST NATUREL, ARTIST/RAPPER YUNG JAKE, DJ VA$HTIE FOR #SINCE2001

New Campaign Taps Early 2000s Nostalgia, Pays Homage to Liqueur Brand’s Boundary-Pushing Legacy

BARDSTOWN, Ky. – Hpnotiq Liqueur, the storied spirits brand known for its electric blue hue, launches a new 360-degree campaign entitled #SINCE2001. Originally launched in 2001, Hpnotiq was quickly embraced as a cultural mainstay, becoming one of the most successful new product introductions in the history of distilled spirits. This fall, Hpnotiq is enlisting hip-hop artist Cam’ron, artist Naturel, rapper and artist Yung Jake, and New York-based DJ and entrepreneur Va$htie Kola – otherwise known as the Hpnotiq “Class of 2001” – to tap into consumers’ nostalgia for the 1990s and early 2000s via a full brand makeover.

The brand makeover is led with a new 360-degree marketing campaign influenced by artist Naturel who redesigned the Hpnotiq brand’s visual identity, incorporating his signature pop-art-influenced style. The Art Deco-inspired graphic cues have launched on the brand’s social channels and newly launched websiteas well as via out-of-home advertising. A behind-the-scenes video featuring Naturel speaking to his inspiration for the redesign is available on the Hpnotiq brand’s. The campaign was created and led by New York-based consumer marketing agency Team Epiphany.

“With a new visual identity and the roster of brand ambassadors we’ve curated, there’s no doubt that Hpnotiq is poised to introduce new consumers to the original flavor and signature color that didn’t just define culture, but created its very own,” said Brittany Capito, Senior Brand Manager, Hpnotiq Liqueur. “At the same time, those who remember Hpnotiq from the early 2000s will appreciate the somewhat irreverent sentiment of the campaign.”

The Hpnotiq makeover includes the celebrity partnerships, on-premise promotions, social and digital media advertising, plus on- and off-premise point of sale items. The entire creative campaign is grounded in the work developed by artist Naturel. Social components will feature the entire portfolio of celebrity artisists and will support on-premise events throughout 2015.
