More Than 2,000 Bars and Restaurants Nationwide Participate in 2021 Elijah Craig Old Fashioned Week
The second annual Elijah Craig Old Fashioned Week wrapped October 24, raising a total of $100,000 to be donated to the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation (RWCF), thanks to participating consumers.
More than 2,000 bars and restaurants across 650 cities nationwide participated in the 10-day celebration, ensuring that an Elijah Craig Old Fashioned riff was available on their cocktail menus. Customers raised a glass to the time-honored cocktail while raising money to uplift the hospitality industry by posting a picture of their Old Fashioned cocktail on social media.
“Nineteen months into the pandemic, the hospitality industry has still not recovered from the impact of COVID-19 restrictions, supply chain issues and staffing shortages,” said Max Stefka, Elijah Craig Senior Brand Manager. “We are honored to support RWCF’s mission, and the hospitality industry at large, by contributing a total of $200,000 since Old Fashioned Week’s inception in 2020.”
Elijah Craig Old Fashioned Week launched in 2020 to provide relief for our partners in the hospitality industry during an especially challenging time, ultimately raising $100,000 for the RWCF. This year, understanding that the industry is still deeply in need of support, Elijah Craig pledged to donate up to an additional $100,000 for the cause. To meet this goal, Elijah Craig donated $5 for each photo of an Elijah Craig Old Fashioned uploaded to Instagram using the hashtag #oldfashionedweek and tagging @elijahcraig. Those who posted were automatically entered into the Old Fashioned Week Sweepstakes to receive an Elijah Craig Home Bar Kit.
Planning for the third annual Old Fashioned Week in 2022 is already underway. Visit Elijah Craig on Instagram to view tagged images from Old Fashioned Week.
The RWCF is an advocacy and action nonprofit created by and for restaurant and food service workers. Donations go toward direct financial assistance for individuals, grants to non-profit partners and a zero-interest loan program for small businesses.
