Colorado Sales Team partners with local consumer group to raise money for ALS Foundation

Last month, Heaven Hill’s Colorado Sales Team partnered with 5280 Whiskey Society to host an educational Whiskey event with a charitable component as a part of National Bourbon Heritage Month. Members of the Society were delighted with Heaven Hill Distillery (HHD) Bourbons and Whiskeys, specifically the Old Fitzgerald lineup, learning of the brands’ rich heritage while raising more than $6,000 for the ALS Foundation, Rocky Mountain Chapter.

The 5280 Whiskey Society is a Denver, Colo. consumer group that gathers regularly to share knowledge and host educational events about a variety of Whiskey brands and styles while incorporating philanthropic components into its events.  The HHD sponsored event brought nearly 80 members from the Society and sold out within the first 90 minutes of the event announcement. HHD Western U.S. Whiskey Educator Jack Choate was there to fully immerse members into the history of John E. Fitzgerald, conduct tastings, and educate the group on the nuances of the Old Fitzgerald lineup.

The special event also raised a total of $6,600 for the ALS Foundation (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), Rocky Mountain Chapter (via the Larvinator’s team)— a cause of which is dear to both the HHD franchise and the Colorado spirits community— through a silent auction, a product raffle, a contribution of proceeds for when members purchased a bottle of the group’s Larceny Private Barrel Selection, and a corporate match from Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.

As many already know, HHD’s late Master Distiller Parker Beam was diagnosed with ALS in 2010 motivating Heaven Hill to donate a portion of proceeds from bottles sold of its Parker’s Heritage Collection to the ALS foundation; and since 2013, it has donated well over one million dollars toward ALS research and patient care. Likewise, several families within the Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits (SGWS) Colorado network have been affected by the ALS disease, including most recently Russ Critchfield, the late SGWS Director of Distribution and Logistics, who passed two years ago bravely battling the disease.

“It was great to be a part of an event where we could educate our consumers while raising money for a cause that is so significant to Heaven Hill and to our local spirits community”, said Tyler Dingus, Area Manager. “The event was so successful that it is likely to become an annual event”.
