Carolans Irish Cream Liqueur Becomes Verified Member of Origin Green Sustainability Programme
Ireland’s pioneering food and drink sustainability program, Origin Green, has named TJ Carolan & Son Ltd. from Ireland an accredited member for 2021-22.
Origin Green provides food, drink and horticulture producers with leadership and knowledge to embed sustainability into their businesses. The program collaborates with 55,000 farms and over 300 leading Irish food and drink companies.
“As the #2 Irish Cream Liqueur, it’s critically important for Carolans to have Origin Green accreditation,” said Natalia O’Grady, TJC Supply Chain Manager. “With Origin Green certification, we join hundreds of Irish food and drink company Origin Green Members, representing over 90% of food and drink exports from Ireland.”
In order to achieve accreditation, Carolans prepared and submitted a sustainability program and achievements in areas such as raw material procurement, packing sustainability and social sustainability. The accreditation is renewed annually.
Origin Green is the sustainability program for Bord Bia, an Irish state agency promoting Irish food and drink around the world. The agency assists with trade missions, access to trade shows and scheduling tasting events in new and emerging world markets.
Bord Bia aims for Irish food and drink to be best in class around the globe as trusted sustainably produced products. Among well-known Irish products with Origin Green status are Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter, Guinness and Jameson.
