Heaven Hill Makes Sustainable Packaging Strides

Heaven Hill Makes Sustainable Packaging Strides

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates on our journey toward achieving our 2030 Sustainability Strategy goals. Recently, multiple teams across the company have made significant strides in our sustainable packaging efforts.

As part of our 2030 Sustainability Strategy, one of our key objectives is to reduce virgin plastic in Heaven Hill bottles by 50% and drive towards net zero carbon emissions. Sustainable packaging plays a crucial role in meeting these goals by reducing the amount of virgin plastic in our bottles and lightweighting them, which in turn lowers emissions associated with transportation.

At our Bardstown Bottling plant, team members successfully implemented Heaven Hill’s first intentionally lightweighted bottle. This initiative focused on 50 mL bottles running on K-Line, which typically hold products such as Admiral Nelson, Black Velvet, PAMA, Blackheart, Christian Brothers, and Burnetts. This project not only supports our sustainability goals but also will save an estimated $87,000 in FY26—a remarkable achievement for both sustainability and cost savings! Huge thank you to the below people who made this project possible:

In another exciting development, the Lunazul team, led by Brittany Wenig, transitioned the 50 mL bottles for Lunazul Blanco and Reposado to 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic (PCR). PCR content refers to material that have been used and discarded by consumers, then collected, processed, and transformed into new products. We are incredibly proud of this initiative, which enhances the sustainability of our Lunazul 50 mL bottles. A huge thank you to Brittany and the entire Lunazul team for driving this important change.

Between these two impactful packaging changes, the future is bright for a more sustainable Heaven Hill. Here’s to the beginning of many similar projects in the future – cheers!
