In late August Heaven Hill Distillery hosted over 100 bartenders virtually for Camp Runamok 2021. The program, which attracts bartenders from around the world, featured a unique program designed to digitally recreate many aspects of the traditional camp.

In years past our partners in Lush Life Productions have hosted in-person spring and fall sessions for campers to explore different distilleries across the bluegrass state. As part of that program, Heaven Hill welcomed campers to our rickhouses for a six-day, behind-the-scenes look at how great Bourbon is made and why the aging process is so important.

While Camp Runamok couldn’t convene in-person in 2021, Heaven Hill collaborated with camp producers Lush Life Productions for a unique community experience. On September 1, National Brand Ambassador Bernie Lubbers cohosted a Bourbon & Bluegrass Trivia event, drawing over 50 participants on nine different teams.

Throughout the event, Bernie serenaded participants with bluegrass music and shared what makes Heaven Hill Whiskeys so special. Baltimore bartender Ashley McMichael and Camp Runamok Beverage Director Amie Ward joined Bernie in leading the event.

Even with many in the bartending community returning to work and a large portion dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, Camp Runamok had great interest in 2021 events. Domestic and international campers from as far as Kenya and Ireland signed on for the week-long event line up.
