Introducing Heaven Hill’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy

A note from the Environmental & Sustainability Department

Heaven Hill has always been committed to maintaining an environmental compliance program that ensures we meet or exceed our regulatory requirements. Beyond that, we recognize that the well-being of our company depends on the sustainability of the natural resources used to create our products. We are reliant on wood for barrels, grains and water for spirits, and the fuel and energy used to run our facilities. To reduce our consumption of these vital resources, Heaven Hill has completed many projects and initiatives over the years, including retrofitting old equipment with more energy efficiency equipment, reducing water usage from our plants, and supporting recycling initiatives.

The food and beverage sector is now faced with some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time—water scarcity and access, climate change, waste disposal, and land degradation. While we have always strived to be good stewards of our resources, it is time to take a step further. The work that we will have to do to ensure the long-term sustainability of our natural resources requires strategic planning and concentrated effort. Therefore, we are building a comprehensive environmental sustainability strategy. The strategy will focus on four key focus areas:

Within each focus area, we will have explicit, measurable goals that will guide our work over the next 10 years. This strategy will ensure we become a more resilient company and combat the environmental challenges facing our industry. Stay tuned for more information about each of these focus areas.
