October is Energy Month!
October is Energy Month and we have a lot to celebrate! Energy efficiency is a huge goal of ours as it contributes to our goal of lowering our emissions 30% by the year 2030. As a distillery, energy efficiency projects are some of the most effective in reducing emissions and saving money and resources. We want to celebrate Energy Month with all of you, and below are a few ways you can participate:
E-Waste Drive – From October 14th – October 18th, we will be partnering with IT to host an E-Waste drive celebrating International E-Waste Day which is October 14th! Recycling E-Waste helps to save energy in the future production of electronic devices and reduces the lifecycle emissions of electronics. Throughout the week, we will have collection receptacles set up at our Hanover office, Bernheim Distillery and Bardstown bottling plant. This is a great opportunity to get rid of any flat screen TVs, cords, cables, audio equipment, electronic gaming consoles or any other unwanted or damaged e-waste that may be collecting dust in your attic. Kentucky-based employees should keep an eye out for an email and digital signage with more information.
Site-specific energy wins – You all work extremely hard all year to create innovative solutions to optimize our processes and save energy and money in the process. Sometimes this comes in the form of small tweaks and sometimes it comes in the form of huge equipment additions or replacements, but either way the energy savings add up and help make us a more sustainable company as a whole. This month, we’re collecting a list of energy wins our teams have had over the past couple of years. If your site has completed an energy efficiency project, please email [email protected] and tell us about it!
Personal Action – Energy efficiency doesn’t have to end with company-wide or even site-wide efforts. The little things add up and that includes your personal daily habits. This month, we encourage you to celebrate with us by being mindful of your energy use at work and doing what you can to reduce your own energy use.
