Samson & Surrey Behind the Brands: Widow Jane American Whiskey, FEW Spirits Whiskey and Brenne French Whisky

Today we conclude our overview of Heaven Hill’s recent acquisition of the Samson & Surrey portfolio, with an overview of the whiskey products joining the Heaven Hill portfolio – Widow Jane American Whiskey, Few Spirits and Brenne French Whisky.

Widow Jane American Whiskey

Widow Jane was founded in 2012 in Red Hook, Brooklyn by a team whose vision was to reflect in Whiskey all the intensity of their New York city home at the juncture of old and new New York City. The brand is named after the limestone mine, Widow Jane Mine, in Rosendale, NY where the distillery sources pure limestone mineral water to proof their whiskey. Widow Jane sources and assembles unique aged Bourbons and whiskeys from Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee and finishes their super-aged products in New York with proprietary aging and filtration, designed to further enhance flavor. Additionally, the brand distills in both New York and Kentucky using its own dedicated hybrid “Baby Jane” corn in the pursuit of an intense and differentiated flavor profile. Widow Jane produces over 27,000 9-Liter cases annually.

FEW Spirits Whiskey

FEW Spirits is a complete grain-to-glass distillery founded in 2011 down a backalley in Evanston, Illinios by Distiller Paul Hletko. FEW has rapidly gained a reputation for being one of the most creative whiskey brands in America, operating in the previously dry city of Evanston. Evanston was also the home of Frances E Willard, the leader of the Christian Women’s Temperance Union, which brought about Prohibition in the U.S., and whose initials mysteriously appear on every bottle. FEW Spirits produces over 9,000 9-L cases annually.
