Say Hello to Bobby Downing, Corporate Attorney

How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?

I have been with the Heaven Hill family for a bit over a year, joining the team in August of 2020.

What’s inspiring you in life right now?

The past two years have brought about, if nothing else, a period of immense change to society. I feel that it has been inspiring to witness the resilience and adaptiveness of the human spirit as we have all learned new ways to live, work, and interact with one another. Even when it feels as though society has, at times, experienced a setback, it is inspiring to witness the ways in which we adapt and find new ways to progress.

Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.

I grew up in a family of veterinarians and was raised around animals large and small. Due to my upbringing, I have always been a major supporter of the Lexington Humane Society but would encourage my colleagues to support their local Humane Society or animal shelter as well!

Which Heaven Hill corporate value do you relate to most and why?

Customer Focused would be a major point of emphasis for my role within the Legal and Compliance Department. While my usual “customers” are typically our internal business teams, I strive to engage them in a warm, meaningful dialogue so that I can best support our various teams in driving business in an effective, yet compliant manner.

What’s your favorite Heaven Hill memory?

I would say that the opening of the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience would definitely be a banner day in my experience with Heaven Hill, as it was the result of a great deal of creativity, hard work, and collaboration from individuals and teams throughout our organization.

What’s one thing people may not know about you?

I served as an “official” towel boy for the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team for two years during my youth.

What’s your favorite time of day?

I enjoy the “golden hour” in the evening as the sun begins to set. I will usually have the grill fired up, and I find that this is a nice, peaceful time for reflection, with the vibrant mix of reds and oranges of the sunset in the sky and the hustle and bustle of the world beginning to taper off for the evening.

What are three things you can’t live without?

My family, music (when not on calls, there will nearly always be music playing in my home office), and rec league sports (softball and kickball being the go-tos)!

What would you like to be remembered for?

I would like to be remembered for being a dedicated worker who always carries a positive attitude, whether in good or challenging times, and who is always good for a smile or encouraging word to his colleagues.
