Say Hello to Denell Cornelius, Retail Chain Execution Manager

How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?

I have been with Heaven Hill almost 6 months — haha new kid on the block.

What’s inspiring you in life right now?

I love watching kids grow. I have one girl (13) and two boys (5 years, 10 months). Watching them grow and establish their own unique personalities is amazing to me. They teach me something new each day.

Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.

I currently volunteer for Girl Scouts of America. I have been a troop leader for a group of the same eight girls for nine years. I love being part of this organization and watching the girls aspire to be strong young women, who love challenging themselves and learning more about their desires as they grow up.

Our troop does a lot of community service for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Our girls are very involved with the animal shelters locally and help out when they can, whether it is community service hours or donating handmade beds, food or treats. Last year we did so well with our cookie sales, that we were able to donate almost $1,000 to our local shelter.

Which Heaven Hill corporate value do you relate to most and why?

I feel that all of our corporate values are important, but one that stands out currently is Teamwork. I feel that during this unforeseen time it is important for us to work together and inspire each other. I am very fortunate to work with a team who demonstrates that on the daily.

What’s your favorite Heaven Hill memory?

Since I have only been here less than a year, I would say my favorite memory so far would be my team’s Christmas virtual party. I thought it was a lot of fun and so great to see the whole team having fun in a different way to celebrate the holiday.

What’s one thing people may not know about you?

I am a dinosaur nerd. I love anything dinosaur. When I was younger, I wanted to be a paleontologist.

What’s your favorite time of day?

My favorite time of day would be around sunset, I love sitting outside with a cocktail or something, watching the sun go down and my kids playing outside. It is a great way for me to take a break and remind myself of how lucky I am.

What are three things you can’t live without?

My family, coffee and music!

What would you like to be remembered for?

I hope people remember me for being a positive, kind, caring and funny person. I love to make new friends and bring the fun into whatever I do.
