Say Hello to Gwen Simpson, Director of Treasury & Shared Services
How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?
I’m in my 25th year. I was with Deloitte & Touche before that and on the Heaven Hill audit (my favorite client), so I was exposed to the business earlier.
What’s inspiring you in life right now?
I want to live with more intention and purpose, both at home and work. I try to be mindful about where I spend my time and make it count. My children are adults now so I’m able to focus more on what I want to do and where I want to go. I have a long list and I can’t wait to start on it.
Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.
March of Dimes is top of mind right now. My granddaughter Maggie was born premature at 27 weeks. She was in the hospital from the time of her birth in March and was stat-flighted to a bigger hospital, OSU, in Oregon. After five months in various units in the hospital, she was released. We just celebrated her third birthday. She is doing great and is a true miracle. My son Kent and his wife Abby are very active in the March of Dimes, sharing Maggie’s story and participating in fund raisers. It’s a wonderful cause — so helpful to the most innocent of all.

Which Heaven Hill corporate value do you relate to most and why?
Integrity – In all instances, we should treat others with respect and dignity. I’m a people person, and relationships are at the center of my life. Living this value has added to my success and has helped me build lifelong relationships during my time at Heaven Hill.
What’s your favorite Heaven Hill memory?
We used to celebrate holidays with a potluck meal in the offices. People would bring their specialty dish, and we would have a wonderful meal together. We have several very good cooks here at Heaven Hill.
What’s one thing people may not know about you?
When I was in high school, I was in drama. I played parts in 2 plays and loved being on stage and playing someone else. I also took two years of Latin and competed in state competitions reciting prose.
What’s your favorite time of day?
I started exercising consistently several years back, and I prefer early morning workouts. On my workout days I rise at 4:40 a.m., go workout, then get a large diet fountain drink as my reward. The best part of my day is when I’ve completed that early morning workout, pushing myself to stay strong and healthy. I’m no pro, but I’m happy that I do this for myself.
What are three things you can’t live without?
My family, good food, and travel.
What would you like to be remembered for?
I would like to be remembered for working well with others to bring about positive changes.
