Say Hello to Melissa Horton, Senior Corporate Events Manager
How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?
17 fantastic years and counting!
What’s inspiring you in life right now?
People. Too many people to list but I’m so inspired by people that want to make positive change and are moving to action to advocate for those without a voice.
Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.
Since my youngest son, Owen, was born prematurely and in need of life support in 2008, I’ve been passionate about Ronald McDonald House. RMDH provided a home away from home when my family needed to be close to the hospital, during a critical time. My family has provided meals and hosted fundraisers to help provide a home to other families in need. Room #13 will always be close to our hearts!
Which Heaven Hill corporate value do you relate to most and why?
In 2020, I’d say Nimble is most relatable. With the live event industry being stalled due to COVID-19, my team has pivoted to other projects across the company. Being Nimble has always been part of the DNA of event planners, but we have been so now more so than ever.
What’s your favorite Heaven Hill memory?
It’s impossible to choose just one favorite memory, but I’d say my first work trip/first plane ride of my entire life back in 2003 was pretty memorable. Also, I’ll never forget serving Hpnotiq to Puff Daddy (yes, back when he was Puff Daddy)! Truly, I make new favorite memories every single year as I see or experience something new for the first time.
What’s one thing people may not know about you?
I love bargain shopping! Why pay full price when you can pay less for the same item? The thrill of the deal is my high!
What’s your favorite time of day?
Anytime when there’s food – I’m always hungry, and I love to eat!
What are three things you can’t live without?
Non-human things that I can’t live without right now are 1) music (all genres but hip-hop is my go-to), 2) books and 3) sweatpants. I do my best work personally and professionally when wearing comfies!
What would you like to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as a person that’s authentic and a force for good . . . and for my great sense of humor.
