Say Hello to Noah Shoates, People & Performance Analyst

How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?

I joined Heaven Hill in the tail end of September, so it’s been almost two months!

What’s inspiring you in life right now?

I draw inspiration from my loved ones, whether it be pursuing their dreams, being great at pushing their comfort zone, starting new projects, making big life changes, showing up more authentically, working on themselves, etc. There’s a lot that they do that I’m very inspired by.

Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.

Recently, I’ve been volunteering at a local no-kill animal shelter called PAWS! I’ve been really enjoying the work as well as the organization, as there are really just so many things most people are unaware of when it comes to shelter life for animals, care of animals in the shelters and the frequent heartbreaking situations the animals in the shelters are coming from. Working with this organization has really been such a great experience, and everyone there goes above and beyond to support the animals, make sure their shelter experience is the best it can be, and pair them with the best adopter possible.

Which Heaven Hill corporate value do you relate to most and why?

I think the focus on continuous improvement is great! There’s almost always a better way to do things. In my experience, people often talk the talk, but seldom walk the walk. In my almost two months here at Heaven Hill, everyone’s willingness to improve and look at things differently has been really refreshing!

What’s your favorite Heaven Hill memory?

Honestly just the first interaction with my team and the rest of the HR team. We ended up going on a tangent about what defines a sweater vs. a sweatshirt at the start of a meeting and were just being silly with one another. I really enjoyed that moment, and it reaffirmed that Heaven Hill was a great place for me to be.

What’s one thing people may not know about you?

I ran a food pantry for three years while in college. I’m talking FULLY ran. I handled operations, marketing and branding, client intakes and interactions, building relationships with donors, building relationships with partners, inventory management, raising awareness and growth initiatives.

What’s your favorite time of day?

I’m 100% a creature of the night! Night is just such a peaceful time, and it’s often the time of day I get to spend doing the things I enjoy most!

What are three things you can’t live without?

Three things I couldn’t live without are: Insulin (I’m a type 1 diabetic, so I quite literally couldn’t live without it), music, and dinosaur egg oatmeal.

What would you like to be remembered for?

Being empathetic and living a life of service! I feel the best when I’m spending my time in service to others and learning about others’ world view.
