Say Hello to Rachel Owen, Sales Accounting Manager
How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?
I have been a part of the HH Family for 22 wonderful years!
What’s inspiring you in life right now?
My children inspire me every day! Because of them, I try to be a better person today than I was yesterday.
Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.
My husband, Brian, and I ride with a masonic motorcycle association called Widows Sons. Each year, the Widows Sons Travelers plan and host a poker run to benefit Barktown Animal Rescue, a no-kill animal rescue, based in Boston, KY. This is our sixth year doing this fundraiser! Being a part of the Widows Sons allows us to give back to our community and surrounding areas while doing something we love.
Which Heaven Hill corporate value do you relate to most and why?
I’m going to have to go with Teamwork! It’s so important to have a team helping me do what I do for HH. I couldn’t do what I do without the help of my team: Dee Dee Bell, Jackie Hall and Cindy Metcalf, helping make sure invoices get processed! Being a team player means that I’m here for the sales managers to help streamline processes so they can spend more time selling the product. It’s a win win!
What’s your favorite Heaven Hill memory?
I have too many to pick just one. That would be like asking me to pick my favorite child. I will say that over the course of 22 years, I have built many wonderful friendships; each one special in it’s own way. We’ve seen each other through so many life changing events. It’s the relationships that I’ve built that I’ll always hold dear. (Now it’s up to you to fight about who’s the favorite like my kids do!)
What’s one thing people may not know about you?
When I was very young, my Father would sit with me and my siblings and paint ceramic Christmas ornaments each year. It’s something I still do each holiday season. However, since I only take the time to paint when it’s cold outside, and I’m not as busy as in the warmer months, I paint for all seasons. It’s a way for me to de-stress and focus my energies on something calming and positive.
What’s your favorite time of day?
My favorite time of day is when the work day is done, and I’m able to spend some time with Brian. Most evenings in the summer it consist of a motorcycle ride to meet friends for drinks and dinner or a relaxing evening on the deck, just the two of us. It’s a time to unwind, talk about our day and reconnect after our busy schedule of the day.
What are three things you can’t live without?
My faith, because, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today. My three beautiful daughters, because they keep me grounded. And my dry-erase calendar, because, without it, I would never know what I’m doing or when I’m supposed to do it!
What would you like to be remembered for?
I would hope that I’m remembered for always keeping it real and helping to make someone smile (a laugh is better, but I’d settle for a smile). I think smiling and laughing can change the way someone sees the world, and if I can help brighten someone’s day, I’ve done my job!
