Spirited Neighbor Updates: Uplifting Spirits and Strengthening Bonds
We started 2024 strong, doubling down on our Spirited Neighbor initiative. Through donations, activations and volunteerism, we embody our Spirited Commitment, foster meaningful relationships and contribute to the well-being of our neighbors. Here’s a glimpse into our recent engagements and employee volunteer updates that showcase our dedication to the West Louisville community that our Bernheim Distillery calls home.
Empowering Futures: Changing Lives Through Financial Literacy
On Saturday, January 20th, Community Connections officially launched its Financial Literacy Program to support youth in West Louisville. The program will last nine weeks and teach 30 students how to manage their finances and prepare for their future. Heaven Hill sponsored the program’s laptops and donated age-appropriate financial literacy books to each student. In addition, team members like VP and corporate controller, Stacey Banks, have committed to volunteering to teach classes. Watch the video below to learn more about this Spirited Neighbor partnership.
Read with a Leader Day at Perry Elementary
On Friday, February 23, Heaven Hill team members volunteered their time to participate in Read with a Leader Day at Perry Elementary School to celebrate Black History Month. The event was hosted by Perry and received volunteer support from organizations like Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and the Boys and Girls Club.
Each volunteer chose a book or two from Perry’s collection to read to their assigned class. The response from interested volunteers was so overwhelming that each class was fully covered. In addition to reading stories, team members were able to get to know the students and teachers better through a series of Q&A’s and fun games.
Perry Elementary has been a valued community partner of Heaven Hill since it opened, and the team is grateful for the opportunity to impact such a brilliant group of young people.
Grammy Magic at California Community Center
In collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning Louisville Orchestra, we had the privilege of sponsoring a spectacular performance at the California Community Center near our Bernheim Distillery. The event celebrated culture, diversity, and the transformative power of music. Families and individuals from all zip codes gathered to experience the magic of live orchestral music, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Through our partnership with Louisville Orchestra, we were able to provide entertainment while supporting the local arts scene and creating quality cultural experiences accessible to all. The event was a success, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation for the arts within our West Louisville community. This event is free and open to the public.
Glizzy Tour: Creating Smiles One Hotdog at a Time
As part of our ongoing commitment to the residents of West Louisville, we partnered with Change Today Change Tomorrow for the Glizzy Tour community gourmet hotdog giveaway.
The Glizzy Tour is an ongoing social series developed by senior events manager, Dana Darley to highlight Heaven Hill products at various popular bars and restaurants around Louisville and Lexington. Dana wanted to expand our partnership with Chef Kyle and impact the community by providing free hotdogs to those who stopped by the Change Today Change Tomorrow office to pick up their weekly groceries.
The event addressed food waste and brought joy to residents. Heaven Hill team members volunteered alongside the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work to bag donated groceries and serve up hot meals and lemonade donated by locally owned Spent Lemonade.
The Glizzy Tour allowed us to connect with our neighbors in a unique way, listening to their stories, and offering support where needed.
The next Glizzy Tour social event will be held at Tartan House on February 26.
