Upcoming Investment Changes for your Bank of America Health Savings Account

Upcoming Investment Changes for your Bank of America Health Savings Account

Overview

The investment feature within your Bank of America Health Savings Account (HSA) provides the potential for federal tax-free earnings to help you save for health care expenses. Having a wide range of mutual funds from which to choose provides options to align your holdings with your personal investment strategy. Bank of America routinely reviews the investment menu to ensure diverse choices are available to you, and after a recent review will be making the following changes to the investment menu in July:

  • Adding new mutual fund choices to the HSA investment offering
  • Replacing select mutual funds from the menu and transferring existing investment balances and elections to the new funds

Blackout Period

To allow for this transition, there will be a trade blackout period May 18-21, 2021. This means that you will not be able to transact in any of the funds impacted by these changes during this timeframe. All investment change transactions will be completed end of day on May 21, 2021, at which time you will have full access to transact in your investment account.

If you participate in any funds that are being replaced in the menu, transfers to new mutual funds will be processed on your behalf at no cost to you. These changes will impact your existing investment balances as well as your investment elections going forward.

You will receive investment transaction confirmations and be able to view these changes on the member website before end of day on May 21, 2021 by clicking on the Transaction Details under the Accounts tab. These changes will also be reflected on your second quarter HSA Cash and Investment Statement.

Can I choose different investments?

If you are satisfied with the investment transfers, there is nothing you need to do. If you want to select different investment choices for those assets, you can change your existing investment choices until May 17, 2021 and you will be able to invest in either of the new investment options before end of day on May 21, 2021.
