Evan Williams Bourbon Experience Bourbon Educator Bob Batch is a finalist for the 2021 Louisville ROSE Awards.
The ROSE Awards, presented by Louisville Tourism, honor outstanding hospitality employees of Louisville who go above and beyond to make locals and visitors feel welcome in the 502. Winners are selected by a committee comprised of hospitality and business professionals who first declare six finalists in the following categories: Accommodations, Dining and Spirits, Behind the Scenes, Volunteer, Attractions and Transportation. Bob was nominated for the Attractions category, which recognizes hospitality professionals who demonstrate outstanding job performance.
Bob, who has been part of the EWBE team for three and a half years, traveled the country for over 35 years as a stand-up comedian. After performing a Father’s Day show at the EWBE, Bob told leaders he wanted to work for the attraction.
“Bob is so worthy of this honor,” said Jeff Crowe, Director, Kentucky Experiences. “He brings true ‘edu-tainment’ to every guest who enters our building. Bob offers a great tour with facts, fun and integrity.”
As a Bourbon host, Bob leads general tours of the EWBE, teaching guests about the history of Louisville and Evan Williams and how Bourbon is made. “I tell them, ‘I’m not a tour guide. I’m a Bourbon educator,’” he said. “’So I’m going to drink with you.’”
Bob said he was surprised and honored to be nominated for the ROSE Awards. “I think it’s really cool,” he said. “I was surprised and didn’t know this was something that could happen.”
Heaven Hill is honored to have Bob as part of the family. Other Heaven Hill employees have also been nominated and honored at previous ROSE Awards. In 2019, EWBE Artisanal Assistant Distillery Manager James Cox received the Rising Star Award; in 2018, Bourbon Host Charles Nugent was a category finalist; in 2017, EWBE Full-time Ticketing Host Dianne Thomas won a ROSE Award; in 2016, EWBE Full-time Bourbon Host George Harrison was a ROSE Award category-winner; and prior to that, EWBE Volunteer Roberta Wasserstrom was a category finalist.
Nominations for this year’s ROSE Awards opened August 2 and concluded September 3. Voting opens today, September 22 for the 2021 ROSE Awards and will conclude on September 29. Finalists will be recognized at the 31st Annual Luncheon and ROSE Awards on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
