Say Hello to Brian Vance, EWBE Retail Manager

Hello Heaven Hill: Monthly Employee Q&A Series

Say hello to Brian Vance, Evan Williams Bourbon Experience Retail Manager. Check out the series of questions below to learn a bit more about Brian.

How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?

I was hired at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience as part of the starting team in October 2013.

What’s inspiring you in life right now?

Nature and the outdoors. It provides me with a since of awe and calmness during these crazy days. I find peace in its beauty and it gives me hope for the future. Nature is a constant inspiration for me.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

As we travel through life we often are confused where we are going, but then one day you look back and the path you have taken makes perfect sense.

Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.

I am passionate about our Environment. While the environment has a great capacity to adapt, we all need to do our part to save and protect our planet. Recycling and conservation have never been more important.

What’s your favorite Heaven Hill memory?

The guests I meet while I am at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. I have met people from all over the world, all walks of life and shared stories that somehow connected us and brought us together. Interacting with the guests and customers gives me an energy that I can’t explain.  It all starts with sharing a smile.

What’s one thing people may not know about you?

I once was listed as being dead. When one of our cats passed two years ago, the team at EWBE made a donation to the Humane Society in Southern Indiana.  They in return sent a letter to our team stating they were sorry for the passing of Brian Vance and his passing would be listed in the next newsletter.  We still laugh about it today.

What’s your favorite time of day?

The evening time  just before the sun goes down.  There’s a special beauty as the sun begins to set and a shadow is cast across the earth that calms the days worries and fuels my soul.

What are three things you can’t live without?

My watch, a hot shower, and sunshine.

What would you like to be remembered for?

Being a nut and making someone laugh.

What’s your favorite pastime?

Gardening! I plant and live in my garden all spring and summer. Then I spend my fall and winters reading gardening books and searching catalogs for more information, new ideas and seeds for the spring.

Stay tuned as we share our final employee Q&A sessions for this month.
