Hello Heaven Hill: Monthly Employee Q&A Series
Say hello to Tim Schoenbaechler, Senior Graphic Designer in the Creative Services Department. Tim works on design projects for a wide range of Heaven Hill brands as well as corporate projects like the Key Brand Brochure. Check out the series of questions below to learn a bit more about Tim.
How long have you been part of the Heaven Hill family?
I just started my 7th year in May.
What’s inspiring you in life right now?
Well, the world is in a very messed up state right now, but my 18 month old son Zach couldn’t be happier. I’ve never seen anyone laugh as much as he does. No matter how rough my day is, he can put me in a good mood almost instantly. His laugh is so contagious. It has given me a better understanding of what is really important in life, and what truly makes me happy.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
I was talking with an art teacher one time about knowing when to end a project. As an artist, I feel like you could keep tinkering with it forever. We tend to spend so much time trying to make it perfect. He then told me that the viewer doesn’t know what it is supposed to look like, and therefore won’t know if it’s wrong. It’s amazing how well that advice translates into other aspects of life. It certainly has taught me to not worry about some of my insecurities as much, because other people probably don’t notice.
Tell us about an organization or cause you are passionate about.
I’ve been very caught up in the Black Lives Matter movement. I spend a lot of time on social media, and reading different articles to help understand the issues better. I’ve been trying to learn what the community, government, and myself can do to help. My wife and I have also been talking a lot about how we are going to teach our son about these issues.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Something crunchy with every meal, music, and sports.
What’s one ingredient you put in everything?
Hot sauce
Secret talent?
If it were a sport, I could go pro in refrigerator organization.
What would you like to be remembered for?
Being a good father, husband, and friend. Or at least someone who brought joy to other people’s lives.
A skill you’re working on mastering?
I have really gotten into woodworking and being the family handyman. I find it very satisfying to be able to build my own furniture, or fix something in the house. Plus every time I finish, I get to tell the wife “is there anything I can’t fix.”
