Bourbon Heritage Center & Warehouse Construction Updates

Heaven Hill Moves Forward with Capital Projects

This week we’re sharing an update on the progress of some of the larger capital projects Heaven Hill has been working on. Our goal in sharing these updates is to illustrate Heaven Hill’s commitment to continuous improvement and growing the business even during unprecedented times such as these.

In November we shared the details of phase two of the Bourbon Heritage Center renovation in a press release here. Today we’re sharing an update on construction progress and are happy to report that the project is still on schedule. Though visitor centers are currently closed due to COVID-19, we’re excited to create an even better experience for guests to enjoy in the future. Installation of foundations and footers are complete with steel erection in progress now. We look forward to the expansion being water-tight by the Fall and a majority of the construction will be complete by the end of the year. Below are several photos of the current progress.

In addition to sharing a construction update for the BHC, we’re sharing an update for Bardstown Warehouse #1. This warehouse is directly across the street from the BHC and will feature increased capacity of 55,000 barrels and a space for private barrel program tastings. The most interesting piece of this project is the windows being installed on the corner closest to the BHC. This area will feature an illuminated Heaven Hill Distillery sign and lighting to showcase Bourbon barrels visible through the windows. Below is the schedule for construction as well as photos of the progress:

  • Fifth floor framing is now finished, and the crew is working its way up with a goal to have framing complete by the end of May.
  • Preparing for lighting installation now: Flood lights that can be turned on and off by a sensor will illuminate the barrel heads and long side of the barrels to showcase them through the glass at night.
  • Roof and glass installation will follow lighting installation to be complete by the end of June.
  • The walls will go up in July and the finishing touch will be the installation of the new, illuminated Heaven Hill Distillery sign on the exterior of the glass corner.
  • The goal is to have the warehouse complete by the end of July.

Enhancing our visitor experience and warehouse capacity will allow us to better serve our customers and share the Heaven Hill story. This project illustrates our corporate values of Continuous Improvement, Customer Focused, and Nimbleness as we navigate continued work on this project under extraordinary circumstances.

We hope you enjoyed reading about some of the projects Heaven Hill is working on to continue the advancement of the company.
