Kasy Mattingly First HHBE Team Member to Graduate Leadership Nelson County

Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience Lead Bourbon Host Kasy Mattingly graduated from Leadership Nelson County yesterday.

She was the first HHBE team member to graduate from the program, a two-year program designed for existing and emerging leaders in the local community.

Kasy, who has been with Heaven Hill for over five years, said she is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the program. “I made extremely great friendships with my classmates,” she said. “We were able to work together on a group project within the community.”

The 2021 Leadership Nelson County installed kiosks at Dean Watts Park in Bardstown enabling parents and families to quickly identify which fields their children were playing on for sports activities.

Founded in 1989, Leadership Nelson County consists of full-day sessions, once a month for nine months, beginning with an overnight retreat and concluding with a graduation ceremony. Class members spend the first year as a student and the second as a leader of the incoming class.

While the program was initially meant to be a two-year commitment, Kasy said leaders put the program on hold at the height of the pandemic.

Over the course of the program, class members participated in activities designed to expand their leadership potential and broaden their knowledge of the Nelson County area and the issues affecting the community.

Among the site visits Kasy made with her classmates was to the county courthouse, where she met County Attorney Matthew Hite and Circuit Court Clerk Diane Thompson. The class also visited the New Haven School, where they learned about student projects in the community of New Haven.

“It was interesting, because I got to see other people’s leadership aspects, and I’ve been able to learn so many things from different people,” Kasy said. “It’s also helped me bring some things back from my learning that will help us continue to grow.”

Please join us in congratulating Kasy on her graduation and ongoing participation as a Leadership Nelson alumnus.
